“I enjoy painting a wide range of subjects, from portraits to
landscape to wildlife. I have found that oil paints, more than any
other medium, allow me to capture the soul of a subject through the
emotion of color and the movement and texture of brushstrokes.
Recently I have chosen landscape as a starting point for my work,
through which I strive to  communicate a variety of ideas and values.
I want to capture the urgency and mysterious meaning of life and
events in time. My perspective on life is based in my faith in God, my
Father, who has a beautiful purpose and design intrinsic in
everything. Although my representational art is inspired by the
natural world, I have found, through trial and error, that pure
replication becomes a dishonest depiction of reality. It is with
emotions, associations, memories, and interpretations that we, as
humans, understand the world, and I want to evoke these elements of
humanity through my art. In each composition, I give special attention
to my main subject, and then I create a background that revolves
around the focal point–becoming an individualized environment that
acts as both a prelude and an echo to the main melody.”
